DAY 3 | Pray For Your Family and Friends

Pastor Matthew Tarkington

SENIOR PASTOR | FAITH4LIFE | DALLAS, TX

What do you consider your biggest responsibility - the most important things in your life? Is it your job, your position at church, your duty to your country? Hi my name is Pastor Matt. I am the Pastor here at Faith4Life Church here in Dallas, Texas. The Bible tells us that our greatest responsibility is to the relationships that God has put in our life, mainly our family and our friends.

Now, we could talk for an hour about different things that we can pray about for different family and friends. But today we are only going to talk about five and they spell out the word FAMILY. First is the letter F. We are going to pray for their faith. Joshua 24:15 says, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” We are going to pray specifically for family members and friends who have not made the decision for Jesus being their Lord that they do and for those who have made a decision to stay strong in their faith. A - is we are going to pray for their attitudes. Ephesians 6:1-3 says, “Children honor your father and mother.” Then in verse four it says, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath.” We are going to talk about the attitude and pray for the attitudes of family and friends that they stay honorable to one another and to the Lord. Next is M. We are going to pray for their money. Pray Deuteronomy 28 blessings over your family and friends, that they are the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath - that they are blessed in the city, and blessed in the field. And we are going to pray for I - that is identity. In first Timothy chapter 3, verses 2 to7, it talks about a Bishop must be blameless, the husband of one wife. He must be hospitable. Then it continues on to talk about in verse 7 that he has a good name without. It means that the identity that he is known as other people can celebrate and support. Pray for your family members’ identity. L - we are going to pray for their love walk. Galatians 5:6 says that faith works by love. That means we need to be praying that they continue to stand strong in their love walk. And the last one is Y - and we are going to pray that they have yielding hearts, that they listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and follow Him in always. Let’s pray together.
