Welcome to day 10 of our 30 days of prayer campaign. My name is Minister Jason Mitchell and I am a staff minister here in Southfield, Michigan. Today we are going to pray for both chambers of Congress – that is the House and the Senate. Wherever you are in the world, you want to pray for your Parliament or for your National Congress. The Apostle Paul tells us in first Timothy chapter 2, verses 1-4, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” We want to pray that God, the Lord of the Harvest, sends forth laborers into the legislative branch - someone from whom they will hear and receive the Word of God spoken that they might be born again. We also want to pray that God grants wisdom to those that are in leadership positions, as they lead their individual caucuses. We also want to pray for the rank and file. We want to pray that God grant them wisdom that they may execute the offices for which they have been elected morally, constitutionally, and biblically correct. We further want to pray that God grant favor for Christians - for godly men and women - to hold positions on their staff - to be their legislative directors, their administrative assistant, committee consultants, and their chiefs of staff. We also want to pray that if there be anyone counseling or leading them towards ungodliness, that these people be removed. We want to pray that the Holy Spirit falls on Congress - that He moves on the hearts of each and every member - that every bill, every resolution that comes out of the committees be something that will move this nation towards godliness, towards God’s way of doing and being right. We want to pray that the Holy Spirit moves on every member of every committee and that every bill, every resolution moves the nation towards godliness - towards God’s way of doing and being right. We also want to pray that God grant favor for godly men and women to be elected to, be appointed to these various positions throughout the legislature so that this nation will move in a direction towards God – His way of doing and being right.
