DAY 9 | Pray for Strong Families and Marriages

Pastor Ronald Walker

SENIOR PASTOR | WORD OF FAITH | VIRGIN ISLANDS

Hello. My name is Pastor Ronald Walker, coming to you from Word of Faith, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Today in prayer, we want to concentrate on the family, and in particular marriages because as we know, there has been a diabolical attack against the family unit and what defines a family. See, the Word of God says in Genesis chapter 2, verse 24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” This is how God defines a family. We are also seeing a serious attack on marriages as a whole. See, the enemy wants to bring division when it should be one vision. He knows according to Mark chapter 3, verse 25, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” So it is important that we pray for unity in the family. Why? So we can see families united and strong regardless what may come their way, regardless of what situations they may face. We know what happens when each member of the family is fulfilling their role. Like it says in Ephesians chapter 6, verse 1, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;” That is the children’s role. Then it talks about the father’s role in verse 4, “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” See, when this role is compromised it affects the strength of the nuclear family. So we are praying and supplicating, interceding for fathers to be the fathers that God has ordained them to be and we are also praying for the fathers that have been absentee in the child’s life come back to be in the home again. Then we find the role of the mother in Proverbs chapter 31, verse 27. Notice her role, “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” Because why? Because of her diligence to take care of her family. It goes on to say - reading from the amplified, “Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her, [saying], Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.” See, when you have strong, undivided nuclear families where the children honor their role before God and are placed under the jurisdiction of their parents - the father honors his role before God - the mother honors her role before God - that family will be able to stand strong regardless of what may come their way. So we’re looking forward to strong nuclear families in 2024. We are looking forward to strong, undivided families in 2024. We are looking forward to mothers being women of virtue in their households in 2024. And we are looking forward to fathers being at home and being mighty men of valor in their households in 2024. We have so much to look forward to in 2024 when it comes to the family, so let’s give God praise like we know it is already so.
