Pastor Deborah Butler
1ST LADY | WORD OF FAITH | SOUTHFIELD, MI
Hello. Today I want to talk to you about divine protection. And the Scriptures that I’m going to deal with is Psalm 46 which says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;” Nothing is going to move us off the fact that God is our refuge and our strength. Then, in Psalm 91, which is one of my favorite divine protection Scriptures, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” So what I wanted to talk to you about - actually these two scriptures go hand-in-hand. He said, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High…” So this first verse had a two part: one is a condition; one is a promise. The condition is he that dwelleth in a secret place of the most High. Dwelleth means to live in, settle down in - live in, dwell in the Word of God. So that means you have to know what the Word says about protection. There’s a lot of things that come with that. You don’t put yourself in the way of trouble purposely. You listen to God to find out what you should do and shouldn’t do because you live in the Word and you have daily contact with God. You daily talk to the Holy Ghost. You daily let Him lead you and guide your steps. So that is the condition that you dwell in secret place of the most High. Now that is the second part of the condition. You have to recognize God as the most High. He is higher above everything. Everything is based on what He says – period. And you don’t explain it or let anyone else explain it away. Now the promise - you shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty wings. So that is what I want you to remember. It’s in order to abide. And for Divine protection, you have to meet the condition. God bless you.
