Hello and welcome to 30 days of prayer. My name is Pastor Mario Bennett from Faith for Life Church in Round Rock, Texas. This is day 21 and today our prayer topic is praying for judges to rule righteously. Now the Word of God has quite a bit to say about judges. I want to draw your attention specifically in the book of Judges chapter 11 in verse 27 where it declares that the Lord God is the judge of all. So in particular, I want to share and talk about 2 Chronicles chapter 19 and we're going to look at verse 7. But what's going on during that chapter is that Jehoshaphat is going throughout the cities under his jurisdiction and he's placing both priests and judges. So it's the will of God to have righteous judges. He admonishes the judges this way in verse 7 and I'll be reading from the Amplified Classic. It says, “So now let the reverence and fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking of bribes.” God demands that judges be righteous. It tells us in Proverbs chapter 29 in verse 2 - it says that when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but where the wicked bear rule, the people mourn. When you have righteous judges, the wicked consider their ways because they will receive harsh punishment for doing wrong. However, where the wicked bear rule, the wicked become more emboldened and they do even more wickedness. So how can we pray for our judges because God desires to use them as well? Well, we can pray that the fear of the Lord be upon them. We can also pray that they have wisdom and understanding. We can pray that God will restore to us judges as the first and that God would raise up judges and that they would judge with just judgment. Let us pray and believe God to move to the judges in our nation.
