Welcome to 30 days of prayer. I am so glad you guys made it back for another day of powerful prayer. Today we have another subject that I think is really close to everyone’s heart who’s in the church and that is praying for prodigal sons to return. I want to go over just quickly with you some points that you can pray and it goes alongside Luke chapter 15. So when you get a chance, read the Scripture. It will give you a little more insight why we are praying for these things. The number one thing we want to pray for is that they have a holy dissatisfaction for the world. Whatever they think the world is offering them we want them to wake up and see, “No that’s not it. I need something new. I need God.” Then number two we want them to have a moment of conviction and awakening where they realize that the one person that can fill their hearts, that can make their life whole and give it meaning is the one and only Father - their heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who died on the cross for them and gave them abundant life. Then we want to pray that they are reminded of God’s goodness - how good He is, how wonderful He is, how faithful He has been to them in the past and how He has been faithful to them even during this time that they have been away from Him. We want to pray that they realize just how good God is and remember that He is an awesome Father. We want to pray that they have a moment of repentance - that they say, “Lord I repent of my sins” - that first John 1:9 moment where they repent of their sins and they go to God and they say, “Let’s start all over.” We know that is exactly what God is going to do. According to first John 1:9, it says that He will remove those sins. He will make it as though in that never happened. So we want to also pray that when they come to God, that they have freedom and understanding of who they are in Christ and they find out not only who they are in Christ, but what their purposes - that they have a renewed sense of what they are supposed to do in the body of Christ. Then just like the prodigal son when he went to his father and his father ran out to him, we want them to have a God experience, whether it is in their home, in their car, or at church. When they finally show up to church, we are not going to judge them. We know that God is going to meet them where they are. We want them to have that experience. We are praying for that. And then we want them, lastly, to be welcomed to the church with joy, not judgment - with joy and with love. When we see those prodigal son’s return, and they will because we are praying for them to, we are going to welcome them with open arms and they are going to get right back in the body of Christ. They are going to be renewed in their mind and have a better sense of their purpose and God is going to show them just how valuable and important they are to what He has for us in these last days. So let’s get praying for those prodigal sons and daughters to return.
