Greetings everyone and welcome to day 10 of our 30 days of prayer campaign. I'm Reginald Walker, Senior Pastor of Word of Faith Christian Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and my assignment for this year is to pray for us seniors. The B part of 2 Corinthians 4:16 in the Amplified Translation reads, “Though our outer man is progressively decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being progressively renewed day after day.” Being now 67, one thing that I have come to recognize is that my body doesn't respond like it used to. I can see myself dunking in my head, but when I go into the gym, the hoop appears to be a foot higher than it used to be. Yes, our flesh is perishing, and growing older may bring with it some aches and pains, but your spirit, man can be renewed daily. In the Apostle Paul's letters to Titus, also a pastor, in the 2nd chapter beginning at verse 1, it reads, “But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine.” It gives one of the reasons why in the verses that follow, “That the aged men and aged women may instruct the younger.” The Amplified Translation is a little kinder. It calls us older instead of aged. Seniors, you got something to give. Our bodies may not be what they once were, but our renewed inward man still has plenty to offer. It has been said that experience is something that happened to you that you wish to God happened to someone else. Sharing our experiences can help prevent the younger generation from duplicating our mistakes. Wisdom can't be bought or even taught, but it can be shared so that it can be caught. Let's pray that every senior recognizes that regardless of our lot, if you're still breathing, God's got a purpose for you. Seek Him for it. Growing older is a blessing, and collecting a lot of birthdays is a privilege that everyone does not have the opportunity to experience, and because God has afforded me that privilege, I want to go out with my boots on, and my prayer for my fellow seniors is that you will all do the same.
