DAY 4 - Pray for Your Siblings and Friends
Pastor Shaninga Marasha
Word of Faith London, Luton UK
Hey you guys. Pastor Shaninga here from London. I just want to talk to you guys a little bit about praying for your siblings and praying for your friends. You know, as believers, we have a mandate on us to really keep our friends in prayer and keep our families in prayer and to step in the gap. Where they might not know Christ, it is our job to really step in the gap for them and pray for them and lift them up. In first Peter chapter 2, in verse nine it says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation…” I am going to just stop right there. You, as a young believer, need to understand that you are a royal priesthood. And what does that mean? What does a royal priesthood mean? Well, in Exodus chapter 28, verse 29 – the Bible is talking about Aaron who was a priest at the time. It says, “And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually.” And as Aaron was a priest, we are priests as well, and we have this mandate on us to really take our loved ones and to bring them to regular remembrance before the Lord. Now, I can hear you thinking, “Wait a minute. How can I enter into the holy place before the throne of the Almighty, before the King of kings, and intercede on the behalf of my loved ones?” Well, there is only one condition that will allow you to do that and it is very simple. The way that you bring those requests to the Lord and you bring your friends and your family and your siblings before the Lord has to be paved by the Intercessor and the Holy Mediator, Himself – that is Jesus Christ. And that is the only condition that there is. You bring them before the throne of grace, in the name of Jesus Christ, and the Lord God is faithful and just to answer your prayers and to protect your friends and family. I just want to tell you a quick story about a young man I was working with. This young man – he went to bed and he had an urge – an urge around 10:00 pm. He was sleeping and then he just had this urge to wake up. He woke up and the Holy Spirit had woken him up and he had this urge to pray and to pray for his older brother. Now, his older brother wasn’t in the house at the time and he had told him that he was going to a party. So the young man did as he had been trained and as he only knew. He just did a quick prayer and just prayed that the Lord keep his brother safe and that He just keep him and protect him from any harm. So he prayed that prayer and then went back to sleep and he slept peacefully until the next morning. In the morning, his brother woke up. He went to go talk to him and he said, “Listen. This weird thing happened to me, man. I was sleeping and the Holy Spirit woke me up and I just had this urge to just pray for you. Did anything happen last night?” He said, “Well, no. Nothing happened that I know of but I literally left the party because I didn’t feel well. I didn’t feel right. I felt like something was up and I just wanted to come home. So I left the party early and I came home.” He then goes to check his phone and on his phone there are a whole bunch of messages from his friends. Guess what had happened? The party just went south. Everything just went left. And there was a stabbing at the party. A kid got killed. Thank God that the blood of Jesus was over this boy and he was safe and he was safe at home. This story – I always use it because it is really important to obey the Holy Spirit. So when the Holy Spirit gives you an unction to pray for people, there is a reason behind it. There’s something that the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you and that person’s protection might be reliant on you being obedient unto the Lord and to the unction of the Holy Spirit. So, I just want to encourage you, young people, pray for your siblings. Pray for your loved ones. Pray for your family. Pray for your friends because sometimes you are the only person that is stepping in the gap for them. You could be that one person that is going to say that prayer that protects them from every single attack of the enemy that is trying to come up on them in that moment. So, I just encourage you to go with the Lord and pray for your siblings, pray for your family, in Jesus’ name.
