DAY 26 - Pray for your Enemies

Day 26 - Pray for Your Enemies

Pastor Frank Amoako

SENIOR PASTOR

WORD OF LIFE BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

Welcome to day 26 of our 30 days of prayer. Only four more days to go; so, let’s hang in there and let’s finish nice and strong. Today, we are focused on praying for our enemies, or as some would say, praying for our haters. Of course, we know and understand as believers we don’t have or should not have any enemies or haters. But in case some may consider us their enemies, let’s look at what the Word of God has to say about it.

In the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 5, verse 43, reading from the New King James translation, this is what Jesus says in verse 43, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’” Jesus is about to correct a false doctrine or teaching; in verse 44 He says, “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” We see here that Jesus is telling us to do the very opposite of what our enemies may be doing to us. He tells us to love. He tells us to bless. He tells us do good and to pray for them because when we do this, then we are acting like our heavenly Father who is in heaven.

In verse 45, Jesus goes on to say, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Verse 46, “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?” If we only love those who love us, there is no reward in that. And so, Jesus tells us in verse 48, “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Let’s go to Proverbs, chapter 25 and let’s look at verse 21, “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the Lord will reward you.” When we bless our enemies, when we do good to them, God rewards us for it. God blesses us for it.

Lastly, but not least, in Proverbs, chapter 16, verse 7, it tells us, “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” When we do what the Word of God tells us, it will please God, and God will cause our enemy to be at rest and at peace with us. Maybe, we shall become friends. Amen? So today let’s pray for those who may not really like us. Let’s pray for those who may consider us as their enemy and let’s watch God change their heart and cause there to be peace among us. Have a blessed and wonderful day.
