Day 21 - Pray for a Greater Manifestation of the Gifts of the Spirit
Pastor Timothy Ramsay
WORD OF FAITH LONDON, LUNTON UK
I want to say a big “God bless you” and congratulations for reaching day 21 of our 30 days of prayer campaign. Today, we are tasked with a very important prayer assignment. We are praying for a greater manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Do you think that is important?
I want to read two passages of Scripture. One is in First Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 31 where it says, “But earnestly desire the best gifts:” The Amplified Bible says, “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces.” What is the best gift? It is the gift that you need at the time that you need it. In First Corinthians, chapter 14, verse 12, there is a similar sentiment that Paul says to the Corinthian church about spiritual gifts. He says, “So as it is with yourselves, since you are so eager and ambitious to possess spiritual endowments and manifestations of the Holy Spirit, concentrate on striving to excel and to abound in them in ways that will build my church.”
Spiritual gifts are for the edification of the church and we are to desire them. The Bible says we should be eager about them. We should even be ambitious about spiritual gifts. “Lord, give me more. Add to me. Let my measure increase concerning what you have placed on inside of me.” You know, I like to say to my church that we are only one bonafide miracle away from the revival. I mean, when we talk about believing God for greater—that word “greater” means “greater in amount; it means greater in extent; and it means greater in intensity and/or quality, bigger, more.” We should continually believe God for more of His power to be manifested in the body of Christ. We can’t just sit back and think it will happen automatically. No, we have to pray about it. We have to zealously stir up the gifts that are inside of us. We have to cultivate and develop and grow in our call and in our measure of grace. And when we do that, we will see a greater manifestation of who Jesus is in the earth.
Can you imagine in the Muslim community, in the atheist community, a word of wisdom and a word of knowledge going forth? Can you imagine one accurate utterance of prophecy going forth in the marketplace? It would change everything. God is calling His church to activation. God is calling His church to desire more—to get ambitious about what He has for us and to desire spiritual gifts. And when we do so, we will walk in them in a greater degree this year, in Jesus’ name. God bless you.
