DAY 19 - Pray For Wisdom and Direction
Minister George Phillips

Hello and welcome to 30 days of prayer. Today’s prayer focus is wisdom and direction. We are going to start reading in James chapter 1, verses 5-8. The Bible says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,” That means He is not withholding anything. He has so much wisdom to give you. He gives it to you as much as you need. “and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” In our Christian walk, we have to always have God’s wisdom and direction. It doesn’t matter what we do. I mean, we could be driving home and we have to decide whether we want to turn left or turn right or go straight or if we are going to wear this outfit, or wear that outfit. But what we need to understand is that wisdom is the ability to have knowledge and to apply knowledge that we have received and be skillful in whatever it is that we do. Now, God loves us so much that He gives us that inside information liberally, the Bible says. Now, there is nothing too small that we can ask of God. It doesn’t matter if we are asking about wearing a certain set of clothes or “Should I take this phone call or take this meeting?” or a multibillion-dollar deal. God will give us whatever we need when we need it but there is a condition. And that is found in verse six, “But let him ask in faith.” Let’s stop right there. We have to ask in faith. We have to know that God is going to give us what we need. We can’t flip-flop – going back and forth wondering what it is that we could have from God or whether He will give it to us or not. Then it also says, “nothing wavering.” We can’t waver. “For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” So, if you are going to flip-flop, save your breath because you are not going to receive anything, according to the Word of God here. You don’t want to be like that person that is just thinking about two things and not laser focused of what you need from God, asking for wisdom and direction. So we have to be like that old tree stump whose roots are so into the ground, no matter how strong the storm or the wind, it can’t be moved. And that is how we have to be when we go to God and ask Him for wisdom and direction. So with that, we have to be in perfect position, and God wants to put us there, that we are going to continue to be a blessing to others, as well as being blessed. God bless you and have an awesome week.
