Day 17 - Pray for Your Neighborhood
Minister Stephen Bell
WORD OF FAITH SOUTHFIELD, MI
Today, we are praying for our neighborhoods. I want to bring your attention to just a small portion of the Scriptures in Mark, the 12thchapter. What we are getting ready to read is Jesus answering one of the scribes who asked Him, “What is the first commandment of all?”In verse 12 Jesus answered and said, “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” Now listen to the second commandment in verse 31, “And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Connected to the first commandment (love God with all your heart and all your mind, and to love God with this intensity) is the second commandment (love thy neighbors as thyself). I just want to bring your attention to this as we pray for our neighborhoods today.
We want to pray for our neighborhoods like we pray for ourselves. We want to be prosperous. We want to be healed. We want to be safe. We want to have peace. We want to have our relationships in right order and we pray for those things for ourselves. We are encouraging and exhorting you from the Word of God to pray for your neighborhoods in the same way you would pray for yourselves. Love your neighbors in the way you love yourself. So again, we encourage you today to pray for your neighbors to have peace in their homes. Pray for your neighbors to have protection in their homes. Pray for prosperity to come to those who need it. Pray for healing for them. You don’t have to know everything about your neighborhood to pray—God knows what is going on in your neighborhood. Pray over your neighborhood. Call out in prayer the boundaries of your neighborhood or the name of your neighborhood if it has a specific name. Pray it out in prayer. Pray over your neighborhood and after you have prayed all you know to pray in English, spend time praying in the Holy Spirit for your neighborhood. God bless you and enjoy your day.
