DAY 16 - Pray For those Struggling with Addiction
Minister Jason Mitchell
Word of Faith Southfield, MI
Hello. My name is Minister Jason Mitchell and I want to welcome you to day 16 of our 30 days of prayer. I am on staff here at Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan. Today we are going to shift our prayer focus to those suffering with addiction. Our verse comes from the book of first Corinthians chapter 10, in the 13th verse and it reads, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Now, child of God, that is indeed cause for great celebration. You might be asking yourself: why and what for? Well, I’m glad you asked. God is telling us in this verse through the Apostle Paul that there is no temptation, trial or test that you will be permitted to face that is above or beyond your ability to bear. That means it doesn’t matter what type of temptation it is, whether it is alcoholism, sexual, gambling, smoking or drugs. It will never ever be beyond your ability to take on that temptation, trial or test. Because you are in Christ, you have the ability within you to live godly, righteously and soberly. Now, I also want to let you know that no matter what you are going through, Jesus understands. The Bible tells us that He was tempted, tried and tested in all points, in every way just like we are. But Jesus did not sin. Get this into your spirit today: God is telling you to come to Him. Forgiveness is readily available to you. God wants you to come boldly before the throne of grace, that you may obtain mercy and find favor to help in your time of need. Remember this, that no matter what the addiction is, it is not greater than the Greater One who lives big in you. Amen. Be blessed.
