Day 05 - Pray for More Signs and Wonders

PASTOR EVAN BLACK

SENIOR PASTOR

FAITH4LIFE ROUND ROCK, TX

My name is Evan Black. I get to pastor the Faith 4Life Church in Round Rock, Texas. I have three kids and the other day my oldest comes to me and he wants me to go outside and throw the football with him. At the same time, my middle child comes and says, “Dad will you come upstairs and play Legos with me?” And right behind him, my baby girl comes and says, “Daddy, will you read me a book?” And all three of them are asking me to do this at the same time and so clearly I am torn. I am not able to do all three at the same time. What I love about the 30 day challenge is that we are coming to God unified. We are not asking Him to go do this and that and this third thing simultaneously. While God can do that, we are coming together unified asking Him for the same thing. We see unity throughout the Scripture. In Genesis, chapter 11, God says that the people could do anything; nothing was impossible to them because they were so unified. In John, chapter 17, Jesus prays that we would be as unified as He and the Father is and so, there is power that flows out of unity. Today, we are going to unify together to pray that God’s power produces more signs and wonders in our lives and in our communities.

In Acts, chapter 4, Peter and John responded to the religious leaders with a convicting sermon about Jesus, and the religious leaders’ command for them to stop speaking and preaching in the name of Jesus. Peter and John then go back to the disciples and tell them all of what happened and the disciples began to pray. In Acts, chapter 4, verses 29 and 30 they pray, “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.” The next three verses read, “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.”

When my kids come to me and asked me to do the same thing at the same time, it opens up an opportunity for me to say yes. When they asked me to do different things at same time, it makes me torn. I am not able to give my full attention and my full strength and power to that. But when they come and they all ask me to do the same thing at the same time, I am able to give them everything that I have. Today, we have the opportunity to go to our Father at the same time asking for the same thing and watch Him say yes. So today, let’s all come together in unity and pray that more signs, more miracles, more wonders would be done in our lives, in our churches, and in our communities.
