Day 5

John Ward

Praise the Lord. Welcome to Day number 5 of prayer. Today our focus is praying for the prodigals in our family and pray for them to come back to the Lord. Let’s read Luke chapter 22, verses 31 and 32, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” The Scripture says in Philippians chapter 1, verse 6, “that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” This should be the position that we take in prayer for our family. We know that all of us have been like Peter who messed up, missed the mark, but God continued to believe that we would come back and that the work He had begun in us and the Word that had been sown in our hearts would not fail, but it would produce good fruit. There are people that Satan has tempted. They have gotten off course. They have gotten away from God, just like it has happened in our life at times. But God wants to use our prayers to get them back in right fellowship with Him just as we are today. So it is so important to pray for our loved ones and pray for family, and not let our emotions keep us back because they have hurt us or they have done things, but realize that we want to see them in heaven one day. God needs your prayers to bring that to fulfillment. So today I encourage you to take the moment and pray for the prodigals. Begin to pray in your English as much as you know how, and then begin to yield to the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that we don’t know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself maketh intercession for the saints with groanings that cannot be uttered. During this day, take some time - that 30 minutes of prayer - and pray specifically for those that you know have missed the mark and have gotten off the path. And as you begin to pray, and you begin to pray in the Holy Ghost, the Bible says that the fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available. Know as you pray that God is using your prayers, and turning things around in folk’s lives. God will cause them to come across the right person, the right thoughts to come to their head and get them back on course. And God is going to use you to do it. So begin to pray today. Yield to the Holy Ghost and you will see the power of God begin to move. And you know that the work that God has begun in you and the ones that you are praying for, that He is faithful to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Your faith and their faith will not fail. The Lord loves you. Jesus is Lord.
